Greenlife Industry Australia (GIA) is the national peak body for the nursery and greenlife sector. Since 1948, we’ve represented growers and the broader greenlife industry at the national level, working with government, state associations, industry groups and research partners to ensure growers’ needs are heard, understood and supported. Now also a registered charity, GIA champions a strong, vibrant and sustainable future for our industry.
We are seeking applications for two non‑executive director positions on the GIA Board. These vacancies will arise in November 2025 when current directors complete their terms. This is an opportunity to contribute your perspective and help guide the future of Australia’s greenlife industry.
Directors must meet the basic requirements under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth), the ACNC Act 2012 (Cth), and GIA’s Constitution.
In simple terms, you need to be over 18, provide written consent (and obtain a Director ID if you don’t already have one), and be able to meet the usual good‑governance standards – meaning you are not bankrupt, disqualified, or recently convicted of dishonesty offences.
Additionally, a strong understanding of governance is important – this is often developed through 3–5 years of board or executive experience, but other pathways are also recognised.

The committee is independent of GIA. Its role is to review all applications for Board vacancies and recommend suitable candidates to GIA members. The Committee may put forward as many – or as few – candidates as it chooses.
There are two Board vacancies to be filled in 2025. If more than two candidates are nominated, an election will be held at the AGM on Thursday 27 November 2025. Otherwise, appointments will be announced on Tuesday 4 November 2025.
Newly elected directors will join the Board from the meeting on Friday 28 November 2025 from 9am–12pm and begin a three-year term with induction and support.
