Nursery Industry Statistics Project

Statistics

Understanding the value of greenlife

NY21000 is a five-year data collection project designed to capture the value, volume and impact of greenlife production in Australia. Funded through the nursery levy, the project delivers trusted insights to help growers and industry leaders make informed decisions, benchmark performance and advocate with confidence.

What does the project deliver?

Each year, the project collects data from around 300 production nurseries and produces an:

  • interactive business benchmarking tool, allowing nurseries to compare performance with similar businesses by size, region or production system
  • economic contribution analysis estimating the flow-on impacts of the nursery industry across the broader economy
  • environmental scan (PESTLE analysis) (delivered 2023–24), mapping the key external factors affecting nursery businesses.

You can download the reports, case studies, fact sheets and summary insights.

  • plan for the future with confidence.

Participate in the 2025 survey

The next round of data collection runs from October to December 2025. Around 300 nurseries are selected each year to take part.
